Why we audit every dealer
AutoYard's value proposition to sellers is simple: your car goes to verified, competing dealers. For that promise to mean anything, "verified" can't just be a badge — it has to be a process.
Every dealer that joins AutoYard goes through our onboarding audit before they can place a single bid. Here's what that involves.
The audit checklist
1. Business registration and licensing
We verify that the dealership is a registered business entity with the CIPC (Companies and Intellectual Property Commission) and holds a valid motor dealer licence as required by provincial regulations. We cross-reference registration numbers and confirm that trading names match registered entities.
2. Physical premises
We verify that the dealership operates from a physical premises that matches their registration. This eliminates "briefcase dealers" — individuals operating from residential addresses or rotating locations without proper facilities.
3. Trade history and reputation
We review the dealer's trading history, including:
4. Financial standing
Dealers must demonstrate the financial capacity to complete transactions promptly. This means verified banking details, proof of available trading capital, and a track record of same-day or next-day settlement.
5. Ongoing monitoring
The audit isn't a one-time gate. We monitor dealer performance on the platform continuously:
Dealers who fall below our standards receive warnings, temporary suspensions, or permanent removal from the platform.
What this means for sellers
When you receive an offer on AutoYard, you know:
You're not negotiating with an anonymous buyer. You're choosing between vetted professionals who've been held to a standard before they ever see your car.
